She's Making It! After 2,700+ miles, Miss Hilda Reaches Montana!

Day 16-17 (Oct. 8-9): Despite all the odds, snow, wind, flood and 2,700+ miles,(so far), Miss Hilda has reached Montana!

We left Sheridan, Wymoning, and three inches of snow, to reach the Montana state line.

Our first stop was Columbus, MT to revisit the New Atlas Bar! (Purely for medicinal purposes!) This is an old-school western bar with the spittoons still built into the footrests along the bar. And it boasts the most incredible collection of stuffed animals I've ever seen. It's not my favorite thing to see, but it's a taxidermist's dream come true.

Next stop was my favorite western town of Big Timber. Located in Sweetgrass County it's a charming, small old western town. That's still very much alive!

And we ate dinner at my favorite bar/resturant the Timber Bar, located on Main Street. A great joint!

Overnight, the temperatures dipped to 14 degree's, but in the morning, Miss Hilda started on the first try! Amazing. Three more inches of snow had accumulated overnight and we slowly made our way toward Bozeman, MT.

We LOVE Montana. We "get it".

The Montana attitude, like so many other western states, is "you do your thing, I'll do mine." We've found Montanian's to be fiercely independent, incredibly friendly, reasonable, responsible and spirited.

Healthy, free, the world before me,

The long brown path before me leading wherever I choose."
