Illinois: Land of Lincoln......and Incredible Corn Dogs

Day 5 & 6 of Miss Hilda's cross-country tour found us driving through Illinois - the Land of Lincoln.

We began from Danville, Illinois and I carefully drove Miss Hilda, my 1966 VW Bug, through a cool, rainy fog.

We put a lot of miles on her, and when we arrived at the hotel, we were exhausted. Unfortunately, someone forgot to turn Miss Hilda's headlights off. Suffice it to say, that there is a recently purchased 6 volt battery charger now stored in Miss Hilda's front trunk.

Here's our fun video from touring Illinois, the Lincoln presidential museum & library AND our visit to the scared foodie shrine on Rte. 66 that is the home of the Corn Dog!

We were charmed by Springfield. A lovely city that's easy to naviagate and has a beautifully maintained historic area. The Lincoln Presidential Museum and Library was first rate! Everyone should visit Springfield to experience this extraordinary, interactive museum. And the Rte 66 kitsch and corn dogs sealed the deal!

Healthy, free, the world before me,

The long brown path before me leading wherever I choose."
